Back by popular demand (LOL hi Myra & Rachel), part 2 of my quasi-economical student’s guide to BW is a brief compilation of day trips near and around Stuttgart! Having to plan and embark on full-blown weekend trips every single week can be stressful and a bit exhausting – not to mention, exorbitant. Fear not, for this is where day trips come in handy! Space out those busy weekend trips, or save them for long weekends to make them more worthwhile. So, pack a sandwich, fill up your water bottle, apply sunscreen (always) and put on your comfy shoes. These little outings will have you reminiscing about school field trip days. But, be forewarned that much of the following involves strenuous gravity-defying efforts (aka walking up gentle hills) that my semi-prairie-upbringing did not predispose me to.
Fernsehturm Stuttgart: The world’s first TV tower! Check the forecast before going though, not worth paying for the views if it’s bad weather.
Schloss Lichtenstein: One of the more physically-challenging #schloss hikes I endured, as we ended up missing the last bus. Add to that torrential rain, extremely narrow muddy pathways winding up a steep hill and my fear of heights. But regardless, the view was definitely worth it.
Schloss Solitude: Excitedly tell a local you spent the weekend visiting castles and they will likely react as if you merely visited Aunt Gertrude down the street. Yet the novelty never wore off even after 2 months #neverstopschlossing
