Hello there! We are Melissa and Natalie – two sisters born three years apart with a deep undying love for food, travelling and our boxer, Rocky. Our adventures started in the tiny island country of Singapore where we were born. From then on, it was a series of airplane rides, goodbyes and packing boxes. Collectively, we have lived in 10 cities over our lifetime (so far). And yes, it does have its disadvantages. For example, not really having a single childhood home or even still not knowing how to answer the question “Where are you from?”. However, it is a childhood that we would never trade for anything else. This lifestyle as modern-day nomads exposed us to a rich world of diverse cultures. This combined with parents and an older sister, who encouraged open-mindedness, instilled in us a passion for exploring new parts of the world. Especially, the culture and food they have to offer. So welcome to our little piece of the interweb, and join us on our journey as we eat our way around the globe!
Hi – Melissa here! Bios are hard. I currently call the vibrant city of Toronto home (hi Drake). I try to keep a happy, balanced lifestyle by petting all dogs encountered and aggressive eating/exercising. My first food role model was none other than Food Network veteran Rachael Ray, but now I find myself being inspired by food I encounter on my travels and restaurant adventures! I am a bit of a health nut, meaning I like to cook a lot of unfussy (yet delicious) recipes with fresh ingredients. However, I truly believe that the occasional bowl of extra cheesey pasta or fried instant noodles is very important for your soul. Other than eating a lot, I have a tendency of making eye contact with crazy people and being hangry. I am also obsessed with my dog Rocky and steak tartare.
Hello! I’m Natalie, currently doing a masters degree in Food Science (no, not nutrition). I live by the saying that no meal is complete without dessert – unless dinner happens to be a stack of pancakes, which is not uncommon. My favourite meal (or lifestyle choice) is afternoon tea and I take it upon myself to provide something freshly baked as often as possible. I am prone to going through extreme phases, in which I devote all my waking (and non-waking) hours to the object of obsession. Like the time I watched all of Band of Brothers, three times. And then proceeded to buy a military-grade flask off ebay, plus a t-shirt (CURRAHEE). When I’m not pinning new recipes to try on Pinterest, I’m either eating, doing some mild form of exercise, or planning my next big adventure.
